The Tings Tings Add English Twist to the EMAs!

The Ting Tings have just been added to our already massive performers line-up for the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards! The British power-pop duo will make their EMA debut this Thursday.

The Ting Tings – Katie White and Jules De Martino – have released several massive singles this year including the UK number 1 hit 'That’s Not My Name’. Their debut album We Started Nothing also hit Number 1 and is the only debut album from a UK band to achieve Platinum status in 2008 to date.

Following the success of last year’s VIP Bar, Jared Leto and members of 30 Seconds to Mars are to host the VIP Bar in the Echo Arena. Not only will they be interviewing many of the stars of the show, but they're enlisting our audience to take part by submitting questions that could be asked LIVE on air (check out our Blog to find out how to submit...).

Triple-nominated Leona Lewis – in categories Album of the Year, Act of 2008 and Europe’s Favourite Act – will also attend the MTV Europe Music Awards to present an award and is joined by Craig David and multi-platinum singer/songwriter Anastacia. Anastacia last performed at the 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards in Rome and returned in 2005 in Lisbon with Leto as a presenter.

Catch all of these superstars - and many more - only at the MTV 2008 Europe Music Awards LIVE this Thursday, 6 November, @ 21:00 CET.

Kanye West & Estelle To Perform!

We’ve just announced that Kanye West and Estelle are both confirmed to perform LIVE at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards taking place on 6.11.08.

Fresh from her massive success at the recent Mobo Awards for Best UK Female and Best Song for ‘American Boy,’ London-born Estelle is making her MTV Europe Music Awards debut.

Kanye West returns to the MTV Europe Music Awards for the second time after scooping the award for Best Hip Hop at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen. As well as performing for the first time, Kanye is nominated in the Ultimate Urban category alongside fellow performer Beyoncé.

With the countdown in its final phase until the live show, MTV audiences only have one more week to vote to ensure that their favourite artists win in ten of the eleven categories. What are you waiting for? Go vote!

Take That To Perform at the EMAs!

We’ve just announced our next performers - one of the most successful pop groups ever: Take That!

In 1994, the band performed at the very first MTV Europe Music Awards at the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin and then went on to win the award for Best Group. And now, to help ring in our 15th anniversary, they will be back onstage following their 2006 comeback album and their 2007 sell-out The Beautiful World Tour.

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate 15 years of extraordinary live performances than with Gary, Mark, Howard, and Jason.

Katy Perry Debuts as Our EMA Host!

We’ve just revealed that Katy Perry will host the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards. This is the first time that she has acted as Host at any awards ceremony. Perry has also been nominated in two categories in this year’s Awards – Best New Act and Most Addictive Track (for her ubiquitous ‘I Kissed a Girl.’)

“I was so excited when I heard that I was nominated for two awards, but when I was asked to host the show I wet myself, Fergie-style!” said Perry. “To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg at this prestigious event is an incredible honour -- do they know what they are getting into? I just hope that I don't spill my cocktail!”

The twenty-three old California-born musician rose to fame following the digital release of “Ur So Gay” in 2007 and “I Kissed A Girl” in 2008, which celebrated over five million worldwide sales. Her latest single “Hot N Cold” is approaching 1 million sales worldwide.

Katy Perry will be joined on-stage by her fellow band members who will act as the official MTV Europe Music Awards House Band.

And helping her to truly make this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards a star-studded event will be our incredible presenters, which include Grace Jones, Solange Knowles, Sugababes, Tiziano Ferro, Tokio Hotel - also nominated for Best Act Ever - and Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes.
