Asia Argento, Backstreet Boys, Jean Reno, Juliette Lewis, Miranda Cosgrove and Monica Bellucci To Present

London, Wednesday 7 October 2009: US rock legends Foo Fighters and Colombian superstar Shakira were revealed as the latest in the lineup of performers at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), the news was announced today by MTV International (MTVNI), owned by Viacom Inc (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B). The MTV Europe Music Awards will be broadcast live from the 02 World, Berlin on Thursday 5 November at 9pm CET and are sponsored by Sony Ericsson, MTV Games / Harmonix’s The Beatles™: Rock Band™ and Dell.

Foo Fighters and Shakira will be joined by celebrity presenters from music, TV and film including Italian actress and director Asia Argento, US idols Backstreet Boys, internationally acclaimed actor and star of The Da Vinci Code and Léon Jean Reno, actress and lead singer of Juliette & The New Romantiques, Juliette Lewis, actress, musician and star of Nickelodeon’s hit series iCarly, Miranda Cosgrove, and iconic Italian sex symbol and actress Monica Bellucci.

The Foo Fighters, Shakira, Asia Argento, Backstreet Boys, Jean Reno, Juliette Lewis, Miranda Cosgrove and Monica Bellucci will join already announced performers Green Day, Leona Lewis and Tokio Hotel, ‘2009 EMA: All Access’ digital show host Pete Wentz and MTV Europe Music Awards host, Katy Perry, at the event which will be broadcast to more than 502 million MTV homes in Europe and around the world.

14 years and 6 platinum-plus records in, Foo Fighters are poised to release their first ever greatest hits compilation, the cleverly titled 'Greatest Hits'. Renowned the world over for stadium-filling anthems like ‘Everlong’, ‘Learn To Fly’ and ‘Best of You’, the Foo Fighters' meteorically successful albums have included their eponymous 1995 debut, ‘The Colour & The Shape’, ‘There Is Nothing Left To Lose’, ‘One By One’, ‘In Your Honor’ and ‘Echoes Silence Patience & Grace’. ‘Greatest Hits’ collects highlights from every one of these classics and includes brand new future classics ‘Wheels’ and ‘Word Forward’. The band will bring this legacy and energy to Berlin at this year's EMAs.

Siren Shakira, known for not only her impressive vocal range but her fluid, sexy dancing ability, first caught the world’s attention on MTV’s first ever Spanish-language MTV Unplugged in 1999. International smash hit album ‘Laundry Service’ followed, as did simultaneous Spanish and English language albums ‘Fijacion Oral Vol.1’ and ‘Oral Fixation Vol.2 which spawned the worldwide hits ‘La Tortura’ and ‘Hips Don’t Lie’. Shakira’s current track ‘She Wolf’ has been let loose around the world in advance of the release of her third studio album of the same name.

Added Shakira: “I am very excited to perform at this year’s EMAs in Berlin. Every time I perform at the EMAs I have such a great time. I can’t wait to see you all in Berlin on November 5th!”

Leading EMA 2009 nominees include Lady GaGa and Kings of Leon, with 5 nominations apiece. They are closely followed by Beyonce who has been nominated in 4 categories.
